WW1 Era Evening Gown

Original design inspired by extant garments from 1914-17.

Materials: 
silk, brocade, velvet, netting

To create the velvet fan belt, I pad stitched a layer of calico on one side along the length of the velvet, and a strip of stiff tulle to the fan section inside. The top area was cartridge pleated, steamed in place, then the top 3 rows of thread were removed. It was hand-sewn to the belt.
